Last Tuesday proved to be an exciting evening for us here at True Endeavors as we hosted one of our favorite bands, Murder By Death. Personally, Murder By Death has been a huge part of my life since the first time I saw them at Club Raven in the small town of Edgerton, WI back in the summer of 2003. I bought Like The Exorcist But More Breakdancing (their only album at the time) that night and listened to it incessantly throughout the summer.
A few months later, Who Will Survive And What Will Be Left Of Them? became the soundtrack of my autumn. For the next seven years Murder By Death has been the band that I will travel long distances to see live, the band for which I will wait in excruciating anticipation for one of their amazingly beautiful vinyls to arrive at my doorstep, the band that I attempt to turn all of my friends onto (I’m sure a lot of you have already received MBD albums for birthdays & Christmas).
Before last week’s show, I was able to get Adam Turla to record an acoustic version of a track off their new album Good Morning, Magpie for the inaugural video of our “Soundcheck Sessions.” He gave us an amazing rendition of “On The Dark Streets Below” from the intimate green room at the High Noon.
A few hours later Murder By Death left attendees in a sweaty, whiskey drunk, stunned in amazement by what they had just witnessed stupor. See for yourself.
