Southern Culture On The Skids

This Sunday, in honor of the 9th anniversary of one of Madison’s finest live music venues (that would be the High Noon Saloon!), North Carolina natives Southern Culture On The Skids will be performing their dirty, fun, and irresistible, trademark trailer park rock tunes for the revelers.   (Think of a great big cornucopia of surf, pop, rockabilly, country, and blues.)

Come early to enjoy a beer tasting and songwriting contest courtesy of O’So Brewing Co.

Sound like fun?  Read on to find out how you can enter to win a pair of tickets!

Kristin Hersh Takes Center Stage In “Rock N Roll Mamas”

Kristin Hersh

Kristin Hersh (of Rhode Island indie rock outfit Throwing Muses) is the subject of a new documentary, Rock N Roll Mamas, alongside Zia McCabe of The Dandy Warhols and hip hop artist Ms.Su’ad.

Filmmaker Jackie Weissman followed the musical mothers over the course of six years, “[watching] the women as they tour and perform, go to play dates, juggle childcare, and get to gigs.”   Mamas has its recent debut at the Portland Women’s Film Festival, and we have our fingers firmly crossed that Madison will get the opportunity to screen the documentary in the near future as well.   Until then, have a taste

Hersh will be in Madison for a solo performance at the High Noon Saloon on Saturday, May 18.  Tickets are still available here, so grab ‘em while you can!

Josh Ritter Visits WPR For A Chat About Love And Music

Josh Ritter

Josh Ritter‘s Capitol Theater show is coming up fast!  There’s still time to buy tickets to his April 24 performance featuring Sea Wolf, and grab that free album download—such a great deal!

If you didn’t catch Josh when he was live on WPR last week, you can have a listen to his intriguing streaming interview with 45 North’s Anne Strainchamps here.   The guy has some fantastic perspective—no wonder he can write the way that he does!

Hope to see you all at the show.
