Happy Monday, Madison! Ready to hear about what’s going down in the music world? Well, we’re kicking off this week’s shows with California power poppers, Rooney, and giving one lucky reader a pair of tickets to the show. After that, our Smoke Free Sounds Series continues to sweep over the state—this time the show’s in Oshkosh, featuring Wisconsin native Cory Chisel. This weekend, we’ll be welcoming one of our favorite hip hop songstresses, Dessa, back to town, and wrapping things up for the week with Jana Hunter’s new band, Lower Dens, on Tuesday. A pretty great concert selection, if we do say so ourselves! Read on to get more info, and enter to win those Rooney tix!
This week, we’re excited to welcome a number of fantastic artists back to Madison. Hacienda, A.A. Bondy, and Zion I have all played here in the fairly recent past, and will be returning to the delight of many local music lovers.
In addition to these shows, we are also proud to present an event later this week to benefit the victims of the Haiti disaster. Say Hey For Haiti is a 6 hour fundraising concert event that will be held at the High Noon Saloon (and simulcast on WORT 89.9 FM) this Saturday, featuring performances by Mash’ Allah Reggae, Roots Collective, and many more. All contributions–large or small–will make a difference. 100% of the money raised will go to Partners In Health. We sincerely hope you’ll consider making a much-needed donation to this cause.
Sorry gang! We were a litte late in getting this week’s concert preview and ticket giveaway post up and ready for action, but good things come to those who wait. Jessica Lea Mayfield will be performing with Madison’s own Jentri Colello next Tuesday, and we want you to be there. Read on to find out how you can score a pair of free tix to the show.
