I saw a lot of LP’s going into the door at the sold out Dr. Dog show last Friday; people standing outside, asking strangers for extra tickets. Once inside, the room began to shrink rapidly as my excitement rose. A real fan base and standing room only; the makings of a great show.
Oh and by the way, they pulled it off too. Leaving no ear unhappy, the boys prescribed the best of the old and added something fresh. “Let go the old ones/ We’ve got some new ones/ Hold on to the good stuff/ Let go and get real tough” (The Old Days). Keep it up Doc. Moving on to the real reason we’re all here…
As always, there’s more to come. Until that time, go to hansenphotographic.com for your digital viewing comfort.

“How about a cheer for all those bad girls/And all the boys that play that rock and roll/They love it like you love Jesus/It does the same thing to their souls” — Tom Petty
Music festivals can be compared to something of a religious exchange. Really. Just think about it. How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to your music gods in return for a blissful, out-of-this-world live spectacle? Would you fry yourself under the unforgiving midsummer sun for hours on end? Would you brave the untold terrors of the port-a-pottys (yikes), or the critical gazes of ever-so-ironic hipster brigade?

They’re back! Or at least, they will be…once the new album’s finished. Singer Julian Casablancas says The Strokes‘ new material sounds like it’s “trapped between the future and the ’70s.” Interesting…
