These United States will kick off tonight’s Thao and Mirah show at The High Noon Saloon, and they’ve generously offered a free download from their latest album, What Lasts, to our blog readers as a preview. If you like what you hear, we hope you’ll be able to make it out to see them perform live later this evening.
The show will get rolling around 8:30pm tonight (June 29th), followed by a collaborative set by Thao & Mirah with The Most Of All. Tickets are still available here, and at the door.

A new bill is expected to be passed in Brazil, protecting fans of funk music from legal discrimination. Some critics of the genre claim that the music encourages drug use, underage sex and other criminal actvity, and would like to see funk parties banned.
