WHITE RABBITS with THE SUBJECTS and CANASTA

Genre: Indie, Rock, Pop

Sounds Like: Tapes ‘n Tapes, The Walkmen, The Dodos

“White Rabbits recruited Spoon frontman Britt Daniel to produce It’s Frightening, an appealingly audacious move that reveals just how tightly these guys define their sound. That self-awareness is apparent in the band’s music as well–nothing seems out of place in these tidily arranged soul-punk tunes, most of which revolve around piano and bass rather than guitar.” — Billboard

Win A Pair Of Tix: The band’s name reminds us of Jefferson Airplane’s drug reference-riddled song of the same name. There have been countless other tunes written about feeding your head. Post 5 of your favorites in the comments below and you might just win a pair of tickets to the White Rabbits show.

  1. White Rabbits

In no particular order, great tunes about head-feeding…

    1. Elliott Smith “St. Ides Heaven” – when he sings the chorus “high on amphetamines” it sounds like such a good time…

    2. The Seeds “Mr. Farmer” – It’s of course possible that the farmer in question is growing something more legitimate, but I highly doubt it.

    3. The Magnetic Fields “Take Ecstasy with Me” – Prob. not exactly about taking ecstasy, but it is a great song referencing drug use.

    4. The Rolling Stones “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” – More about the score than the actual use, and there are many other Stones songs that are about using, but this song is just so good it has to be noted.

    5. Black Sabbath “Snowblind” – Nobody touches Ozzy’s coke, nobody.

  2. Oh man, that line about Ozzy’s coke cracked me up! Great list, Jason!

This giveaway is now closed, but keep checking back for more opportunities to win tix!
