The Call’s Michael Been Has Passed Away

Michael Been

We’re devastated to report that The Call’s Michael Been, father of Robert Levon Been of BRMC, has passed away.  It is believed that the musician and sound engineer collapsed from a heart attack in the backstage area of the Belgian music festival Pukkelpop, where his son’s band was performing.  No further details are currently available.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of this wildly creative, intelligent, and gentle soul.  RIP Michael.

  1. He was a dear soul. I had known him for years, dating back to a couple of shows I did with The Call in the mid-90’s, including a very memorable acoustic show at the Pres House.

I always said that he possessed one of the finest voices in all of rock n roll. I told him that when I saw him last spring when he was doing sound for his son’s band, BRMC.

So sad. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
