  1. Excellent info, as always.

Although not quite as epic as the Peter Sellers and co. flick, I believe The Dismemberment Plan got their name from a line uttered by Ned Ryerson (sp?), the annoying insurance salesman, in Groundhog Day.

And for another of my favorites, the indie band Jets to Brazil named their group after a poster seen in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And now that I think about it, Breakfast at Tiffany’s was written by Truman Capote, who I believe also played the host in Murder by Death.

  2. How about Klaatu (The Beatles? or a Canadian group who could harmonize) from The Day The Earth Stood Still and howza bout Bela Lugosi’s White Zombie – creepy film and rocking band. Of course, there is also Them(!), Van the Man’s early band and the film about a giant ant invasion. Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s also has good chops in Thee Headcoatees and as a solo artist. Finally, Scotland’s Big Country shares a name with the 1958 Gregory Peck film.

  3. For Murder By Death tix – I am going with Duran Duran – name from Dr. Durand Durand in the film ‘Barbarella’ about a sex vixen taken to a space ship and placed in the Excessive Machine…doesn’t get better than that!

  4. Nerf Herder – Princess Leia called Han Solo a Nerf Herder in Empires Strikes Back.

  5. Winner has been notified. Thanks all!
