One of my all-time favorite books is “A Confederacy of Dunces” – it’s an incredible book about a truly ridiculous human being. Definitely check it out if you like Hitchhiker’s Guide.
As for embarrassing stories, I’ve got one from back in the college days. I used to go to the gym and run around the track during the winter, since I couldn’t run outside. On one particular day, I noticed that there were a lot of pretty girls at the gym, so I struck up several conversations with these lovely ladies, each time starting with “Dang, don’t you hate this weather? I just wish I could run outside again!” After an hour or so, I was feeling pretty proud of myself for how smooth I was. So I saw another girl and decided to start up another conversation. She turns and says “Look, so you realize that we’ve had this same conversation 4 times already?”
While there were indeed many pretty girls at the gym that day, I had apparently decided to talk to only one of them. Over and over again…
I’m terrible at picking favorites, but I love The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and I love Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy.
Any chance this week to win Moe tickets? 🙂
favourite book : the Shiining by Stephen King- the only thing I ever read that gave me repititve nightmares
foolish moment: streaking across mid summer common-Cambridge England for a free takeaway curry –
