True Endeavors’ Questions Of The Week: Meet The Locals

Madison

In anticipation of Local Natives’ show at the Orpheum this Thursday, we wanted to ask our readers about their own favorite Madison “local native” artists.  What hometown musicians are creating music that excites you these days?

Tell us about them in the comments section below and you’ll be entered to win a pair of tickets to a True Endeavors club show of your choice!  (Click here to check out our current lineup.)

Have your responses posted by 6pm on Sunday, September 22.  A winner will be chosen and notified shortly thereafter.  Good luck!

  1. I first heard Sunspot when they opened for Cowboy Mouth a few years ago at Majestic. I tweeted something just this side of snarky and was surprised when Sunspot’s Wendy tweeted back, very graciously. Since then, I’ve learned more about the band, including the fact that my neighbor was once their lead singer and remains friends with the band. I’ve come around to this venerable local band and the energy and joy they put into every performance.

  2. I met a few members of Phox last year during a shitty barns show and they told me about an upcoming show opening for a band I had already planned to see. Seeing them perform was fantastic! I really loved their story of living together, all from Baraboo, and just seeing that they not only made great music, but had a blast on stage like it was no big deal. It’s great to see the success they’ve managed to build in just the past year and I look forward to more of their music!

  3. Sinking Suns are my favorite Madison band. Dark, noisy rock that sounds great recorded and even better live.

  4. I’ve recently really gotten into the fatty acids. I’ve heard of them playing all over the place but never committed to going. Their newest album Bolero came out and I was blown away. They have such an energetic sound that makes them very appealing. A close second is Phox, who I will be seeing in Madison opening up for Delta Spirit

  5. I love seeing The Type.

  6. The tickets go to Carlos this week. Congratulations! Check your e-mail, sir…
