True Endeavors’ Question Of The Week: What’s In A Name?

EMA

With her May 3 show at the High Noon Saloon rapidly approaching, the very talented EMA has us thinking about the thoughts behind the different monikers that thousands of solo artists adopt for themselves.  In EMA’s case, her stage name comes from her initials (real name: Erika M. Anderson), but we want to hear about others’.

Post a comment below telling us the about the origin of some of your favorite stage names and you’ll be entered to win a pair of tickets to a True Endeavors club show of your choice!  (Click here to check out our current lineup.)

Have your responses posted by 6pm on Sunday, April 27.  A winner will be chosen and notified shortly thereafter.  Good luck!

  1. Been listening to Langorne Slim lately. Well, he is obviously slim, but he named his stage persona after his hometown of Langhorne in Bucks County, Pa. His real name is Sean Scolnick. Not quite as cool sounding.

  2. I’ve always liked Good Old War… I’ve read that the name just came from their 3 names, Goodwin, Arnold, and Schwartz

  3. One of my favorite artists is Elvis Costello. Born Declan Patrick MacManus, he adopted the Costello part as a tribute to his father who performed as Day Costello. And at the suggestion of his manager took the first name of some singer called Elvis Presley. And we are blessed with the fine music of Elvis Costello.

  4. Mark is our winner this week. Congrats! Check your e-mail…
