A new bill is expected to be passed in Brazil, protecting fans of funk music from legal discrimination. Some critics of the genre claim that the music encourages drug use, underage sex and other criminal actvity, and would like to see funk parties banned.  Under the new bill, discrimination against such events featuring the music would be made illegal.

Nov 24 Monday Ticket Giveaway- Soul Excitement

From church choir to the face of soul and funk revitalization, Sharon Jones’ retro sound is pure soul that seduces the audience to let go of their inhibitions.

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have built a growing reputation as the front runners of old-school soul and funk.

Show up for the music, but stay for the stage show. Sharon’s youthful energy and occasional dancing frenzies exude passion while the horn section grooves.

Think the Dap-Kings look or sound familiar?  That’s because some of the members backed up Amy Winehouse on her album “Back to Black”, check them out in her video “Rehab.”

Come to the Barrymore December 3 prepared to dance!  Get two tickets for the funk filled evening by telling us what your favorite funk/soul song to listen to in a recession is. Comment on this blog with your entry to have a chance to win a FREE pair of tickets to the Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings show.

Answers will be judged by the staff at True Endeavors- the winner will be announced Tuesday (November 25) at 6pm.
