Bluegrass band Pert’ Near Sandstone will be coming down from Minneapolis for a concert at the High Noon Saloon that should have bluegrass fans jumping about enthusiastically and maybe collapsing from exhaustion. The band plays straight-up old-time bluegrass music with unbridled, full-throated energy. While the fast-paced reels can border on frenetic, Pert’ Near Sandstone bring a lot of soul and spirit to their music, which can be heard in their upbeat renditions of bluegrass classics like ‘Wild Bill Jones’. The band sticks closely to a pure, traditional sound, but they aren’t afraid to bring their own touches to the music and have fun with it.
Performing with Pert’ Near Sandstone will be fellow bluegrass rockers Head For The Hills, a Fort Collins, CO band who play neo-traditional bluegrass as well as their own compositions. Though more laid-back than the headliners, both bands share a dedication and enthusiasm for old-time music. The creative style of Head For the Hills combined with the traditional esthetic and energy of Pert’ Near Sandstone should make the concert fun for bluegrass purists and iconoclasts alike.
