Live Music Photos – The Long Weekend

Those of you that work the typical Monday through Friday schedule know that the long weekend is a rare treat. This past weekend was especially sweet with three great shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. After not making it to a single show in January, I was ready for some great music, and I definitely got my fill.

012-long-weekend

It all started at the High Noon Saloon with Pieta Brown (accompanied by Bo Ramsey) opening for a semi-acoustic version of Cracker; David Lowery on acoustic guitar and Johnny Hickman on the electric. Friday night at the Majestic, the North Mississipi Allstars got the crowd moving with their blues-rock jams. The opening act was a rocking side project featuring members of the Allstars called Hill Country Revue which featured some crazy electric washboard from Allstars’s drummer, Cody Dickinson. The long weekend of shows ended with two great acoustic solo performances. Chicago’s Joe Pug opened for The Old 97’s Rhett Miller. Rhett worked the crowd, and himself, into a frenzy playing both solo and Old 97’s tunes.

The Hold Steady Photos

The Hold Steady packed the house at the Majestic Theatre last night and nobody left disappointed. As one security guard put it, it was “nuts to butts” all through the theatre and The Hold Steady rocked them all. Here are a few photos from the show…
