Pics and Video From Our Recent Bowerbirds Show At The High Noon Saloon

Bowerbirds

As just about anyone who populated the High Noon Saloon last Sunday night can attest, the sweetly soulful, mellow sounds of Bowerbirds in a live setting are nothing short of spectacular.  The North Carolina-based indie folk headliners were not, however, the only band who successfully mesmerized the eager ears of the audience.  Performances by opening acts Peter Wolf Crier and Sharon Van Etten no doubt earned the respective artists a great many new fans as well.

We’d like to share a few still photos (by Shelley Peckham) and live video (from Justin Kibbel) to remember the night by, as well as a link to listen to the full album stream of Peter Wolf Crier’s latest release, Inter-Be. Enjoy!

Live Music Photos – The Long Weekend

Those of you that work the typical Monday through Friday schedule know that the long weekend is a rare treat. This past weekend was especially sweet with three great shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. After not making it to a single show in January, I was ready for some great music, and I definitely got my fill.

012-long-weekend

It all started at the High Noon Saloon with Pieta Brown (accompanied by Bo Ramsey) opening for a semi-acoustic version of Cracker; David Lowery on acoustic guitar and Johnny Hickman on the electric. Friday night at the Majestic, the North Mississipi Allstars got the crowd moving with their blues-rock jams. The opening act was a rocking side project featuring members of the Allstars called Hill Country Revue which featured some crazy electric washboard from Allstars’s drummer, Cody Dickinson. The long weekend of shows ended with two great acoustic solo performances. Chicago’s Joe Pug opened for The Old 97’s Rhett Miller. Rhett worked the crowd, and himself, into a frenzy playing both solo and Old 97’s tunes.

Here are a few photos from each of these fine performances…

Live Music Photo Tuesday – Eagles of Death Metal

014-eodm

The High Noon Saloon was the place to be Sunday night if you were in the mood for some loud, fast, heavy and yes…”sexy” rock and roll. The Eagles of Death Metal (who don’t actually play death metal…for those that haven’t heard) were very fired up, and front-man Jesse Hughes (aka Boots Electric) was in especially good spirits. It seems that EODM cracked Billboard’s Hot 100 for the first time with their new album “Heart On” debuting at #57, and Jesse…not one to believe in coincidences, gave all the credit to being in Madison when it happened. Between that and London England’s The Duke Spirit’s wonderful high energy opening set, the packed house was in a frenzy throughout this phenomenal show. Here are a few photos from EODM’s set.
